The living room is one of the most important decors in your home. It not only affects you and the others in your home, it will also reflect on you to any visitor that enters the home. In such a setting, choosing the correct clock is of the utmost importance. The clock you decide on is going to get more attention then other items in the room, due to its utilitarian nature.

The living room should be a comfortable place. You don’t want it to be overwhelming with noise or color. The clock you choose should reflect this idea. The gentle tick of a cuckoo clock may be soothing at first but be sure it will not grow annoying. Chimes are also a major point to consider.

Find the focal point of the room. Is it the TV? The coffee table? Perhaps you could make the clock itself the focal point, if you have something worthwhile. Whatever the focal point is you can choose to position a clock just to the side of it, for usefulness as well as form. Make sure the clocks tone matches whatever that focal point is, and that it won’t detract from its style.

Novelty clocks are generally a bad idea as they tend to be distracting. Try and find something elegant and subdued that will present a sense of comfort to visitors. Natural materials such as wood and stone convey this idea very well. If all else fails, go simple.

As long as you are careful to match your colors, and don’t get anything to out there, you should be able to find a clock that will fit perfectly into your living rooms space.
